GM JPavs8Cluthcy hosted a press conference on Friday. Here are some of the more important things that were said. There are some important things regarding trade rumors on there. If you want to skim through and just see the rumors, they are bolded.
Reporter: "JPavs, your team has done well after under achieving a bit early on in the season. Do you think they have what it takes to win the cup?"
JPavs: "Yes. Definitely. And, if I had to say one reason why I'm so confident in my team, it's my second line. Everybody on that line is very agressive, physical, and scoring nearly a point-per-game. I am not going to trade any one of them unless I get an outstanding offer.
Reporter: "Early on, you fancied the idea of trading Alexander Ovechkin. He has gotten back on track, and leads the SHL 2.0 in points. Is it safe to assume that you have gotten back on track with him, and are not looking to trade him?"
JPavs: "Well, it was crazy to consider trading him. He is why we are what we are today, and is the best player in the world. It was crazy to consider trading him. He is an elite player who we won't trade unless for an outstanding offer."
Reporter: "What about Henrik Lundqvist, what do you think of his play this year?"
JPavs: "Well, I haven't seen the numbers, so I wouldn't know too well, but looking at the calendar, he has been doing well lately, and keeping our opponents to low goal totals.
Reporter: "Are you dissapointed with your defense corps?"
JPavs: "No, why would I be? Because of their low offensive totals?"
Reporter: "Well, you yourself said that your defense was top-5."
JPavs: "With all due respect to them, that was when we had Mike Green. It is still top-10 in my opinion though. The type of players that they are aren't those high point guys like Mike Green. And, Mike Green is why the Capitals fail in the playoffs in reality. Teams don't need guys like him. Our defense keeps goals out of the net."
Reporter: "Are you dissapointed in Alexander Semin's performance so far?"
JPavs: "To be honest, a little bit. I think he has the talent to do better. He needs to do better though."
Reporter: "After being player of the month while you were struggling, Nikolai Antropov has been relatively invisible. Have you looked into trading him?"
JPavs: "He has not been 'invisible'. I don't like how uninformed reporters like you say stuff like that. He has been bumped down to the 3rd Line, and his production dipped as a result. As for the trade rumors, I can not discuss that." (Hinting that Antropov trading may have been discussed.
Reporter: "My apologies. But, his production was dipping before you acquired Morrow, and he was on the second line. He still wasn't doing well."
JPavs: "Nikolai is a good player and a good guy. I won't rag on him. I like him. I don't want to trade him. He, like any other player on my roster, can be traded if I get the right offer. I will not discuss whether I have discussed trading him or not."
Reporter: "Is there any other information you could give us about players who you may trade?"
JPavs: "I will not trade anybody in my top-6, or Lundqvist, unless a huge overpayment is offered. Everybody else is fair game."
Reporter: "Nice talking to you JPavs."
JPavs: "Bye."
